About Us

Parkinson Society Ottawa, incorporated in 1978, is a registered Canadian charity (119080497RR0001), and a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of people with Parkinson's and their families in Eastern Ontario. We are a regional partner of Parkinson Society Canada.

Together we believe every person touched by Parkinson's disease deserves to know that their journey is not without company, understanding and hope. We are both with them and for them – offering friendship and acceptance, sharing information and experience, providing care and support, raising money for programs and research.

Whether it's a young man in Saskatchewan or an elderly widow in Ontario, our promise to all Canadians living with or involved with Parkinson's is to be a beacon of honesty, encouragement and resolve.

For some, we light a path out of the fog of frustration, ignorance and uncertainty that so often accompanies the onset of the disease. There is a lot to know about Parkinson's and a lot more to learn. We don't have all the answers, but we have heard most of the questions.

For others, our light illuminates the door to a growing community of common interests and needs. We know that great ideas come from everywhere, and we are focused on identifying and sharing best practices from across the country.

We are also determined to advance innovative research by reaching out – on behalf of Canadians to Canadians – and asking for their help through donations and advocacy.

In all cases, we are guiding the way for people living with Parkinson's. Being what they sometimes need most – a trusted place to turn. Where questions can be asked, stories can be told, pledges can be made, and victories can be celebrated.

We're Parkinson Society Canada. United in our goal to improve the quality of life of those affected by Parkinson's. Uniting other to help achieve it.

The focus of one cause and the clarity of one voice.
